HG165 Tube Mill Line for Φ60–165 mm Pipe

HomeTube MillLarge-Diameter Tube Mill › HG165

The sixth of the twelve model steps — Φ60 – Φ165 mm round pipe and 50×50 – 130×130 mm square section, on a 400 kW high-frequency welder.

HG165 is the sixth of the twelve steps, covering Φ60–165 mm. It is the first step in the large-diameter group, and the span it covers — 105 mm of diameter in one step — is wider than any step below it.

Tube mill for 165mm pipe

What a buyer in that family checks is weld pass rate, diameter and wall coverage, whether coil change stops the line, and energy and yield per tonne — not section appearance.

Wear Parts and Consumables

Saw blades by cutting volume; impeders and induction coils by welding hours; forming and sizing rolls on wear, machined in-house.

From this step upward the fluid-transport application family becomes the main one: carbon steel welded pipe for oil and gas transport, municipal water and gas, and chemical and heating lines.

Size Change, Roll Wear and Running Cost

Yield above 93 per cent is a line-design figure that also depends on plant operation. A size change on this step is a roll-set change, and the set is larger than on the small-diameter steps, so the time cost of the change is higher in practice. Wall thickness, line speed and shift output are confirmed against your pipe size, material grade and cut length at quotation. Send us those three and we will state the figures.

Roll material and heat treatment decide how long the set holds diameter before regrinding. Rolls and key wear parts are machined on our own CNC equipment, which is why spares stay available long after handover.

Send diameter, wall, grade and target output and we will size the step.

Where this step sits in the twelve

HG165 is the sixth rung and the first of the large-diameter group. Below it HG114 stops at 114 mm; above it HG219 covers Φ114–219 mm and HG273 covers Φ114–273 mm.

Anonymised reference deliveries

This band carries more deliveries than any other. Inside Φ60–165 mm we have shipped: Afghanistan, construction, 165 × 5; Russia, construction, HG165 × 6; Thailand, construction, 165 × 6; Pakistan and Mexico, construction, 127 × 6; Uzbekistan, construction, HG127 × 3; Mexico, construction, HG114 × 4; Egypt, construction, HG89 × 5; Sri Lanka, construction, 89 × 5; Egypt, construction, HG76 × 3; India, construction, 76 × 3; and Malaysia, furniture, HG60 × 3.

The buyer for this band

At this diameter the profile shifts toward large energy and infrastructure groups, whose acceptance criteria are compliance with standards such as API 5L or GOST, on-time delivery and long-term service.

Their objection is about standards rather than price: whether the equipment can reach the standard the order is gated on. The answer has two parts: the API line runs the full API 5L inspection chain as equipment, and certification of the finished pipe to API 5L is handled under the pipe maker’s own quality system.

Delivery, installation and support

Shipped dismantled in containers with heavy frames braced bare on cradles; delivery 50 to 90 days; installation and commissioning included with on-site dispatch and round-the-clock support. Single contact, round-the-clock response. Payment 30 per cent deposit and 70 per cent before shipment, third-party escrow available.

If the pipe has to carry an inspection record

At this diameter the question of in-line inspection starts to come up, so it helps to be clear about the boundary from the start.

The API line is a separate configuration: medium-frequency annealing, straightening, end facing, hydrostatic testing, ultrasonic and eddy-current inspection added on top of the tube mill. Its own coverage is API 219/406/426/508 with OD 114–508 mm and wall 6–24 mm by step.

In-line NDT on this step is available on request: whether it is fitted is a configuration question, not a standard feature.

Quality factors at this diameter

The ten apply, and at this band the two that most often decide acceptance for fluid-service pipe are HF power with frequency and welding speed, and post-weld cooling matched to that speed.

What to send with an enquiry

Outside diameter, wall, grade, target output, and whether an inspection record is required — the last one decides which line, not which step.

One more boundary on this step

Two quality factors govern what a fluid-service buyer checks at this diameter: HF power with frequency and welding speed, which set fusion; and sizing with straightening, which set diameter, straightness and ovality. Both are process settings rather than fixed machine values.

Two divisions of responsibility

Weld fusion is on the equipment side — power matching, seam alignment, squeeze control — while strip quality and operating practice are on the buyer’s. Material yield is shared: the design supports above 93 per cent, and the achieved figure also depends on how the line is scheduled and run. Consistency after a size change is on the equipment side through servo setup and quick tooling change.

Why this band has the most deliveries

More of what we have delivered sits in this band than in any other: Afghanistan at 165 × 5, Russia at HG165 × 6, Thailand at 165 × 6, Pakistan and Mexico at 127 × 6, Uzbekistan at HG127 × 3, Mexico at HG114 × 4, Egypt at HG89 × 5 and HG76 × 3, Sri Lanka at 89 × 5, India at 76 × 3, and Malaysia at HG60 × 3.

Consistency after a change is held by servo setup; speed and cut length by PLC and VFD.
